Who We Are

Our Mission
Founded in 2020 and officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2024, Boston Backpack Project is a nonprofit organization with a deeply personal mission: to support individuals facing homelessness and addiction in the Boston area. Inspired by a commitment to provide care, compassion, and dignity to those often overlooked, we distribute backpacks filled with essential items to people in need. Our backpacks are more than just supplies—they’re a sign that someone cares, and that no one is forgotten.

What We Do

— We Find & Fund

We actively seek out areas of need within our community, focusing on those who are unhoused or struggling with addiction. Through fundraising and generous donations, we provide essential resources to help people in need. Every dollar raised goes toward supplying backpacks, hygiene kits, and other necessities that offer comfort and dignity to those experiencing hardship.

Building a supportive network is essential to reaching more individuals and amplifying our impact. We partner with local shelters, outreach organizations, and community groups to better serve those in need and create a stronger network of care across Boston. Together, we’re building a community that cares, uplifts, and supports.

Our mission is about more than distributing backpacks. We aim to strengthen the community by addressing both immediate needs and underlying challenges. Through our outreach efforts, we provide emotional support and connections that foster resilience, reminding people that they are not alone in their struggles.
